The public school system in Schaumburg is funded by property taxes rather than sales taxes. Schaumburg Township School District 54 is the main system that services the area and the high school recently underwent a major construction project to update its facilities. Graduating students also have the benefit of choosing from any of the small colleges that are in the area, including a branch of Roosevelt University, a graduate school for management students and a branch of Argosy University.

Schaumburg Township District Library offers one major branch within the city and two smaller branches in nearby cities. There are over 630,000 books available and it is one of the biggest libraries in the country. It has won several awards and contains many activity rooms, meeting rooms and a teen area.

According to education statistics over 40% of residents who are 18 and older have graduated with a bachelor’s degree or higher, which is 8 % higher than that of the rest of the county. The city is a very young and vibrant city with only about 5,000 members being older than 70.
